Elon Musk And Ancient Indian Sages Have The Same Theory About The Nature of Reality…

A couple of weeks back, Facebook Inc., the holding company of Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, Oculus, etc. rebranded itself as Meta Inc. With the branding, they also showcased some of the VR-related stuff.

This move kickstarted the classic discussion about the ‘Metaverse’.

To be honest, that is one of the scariest things that I’ve seen recently!

It’s the polar opposite of what’s humanity trying to figure out since the ages, the ‘Why’ question of its very existence. And this is a move backward.

But for now, let’s start with the definitions.

Metaverse: A metaverse is a network of 3D virtual worlds focused on social connection. i.e. to say, a computer game like a digital world in which you can experience that virtual reality, interact with various digital objects as if they are ‘real’.

Metaverse became one of the most used terms within the tech community in late 2021 after Facebook renamed itself as ‘Meta’ and announced a series of updates with its vision of AR/VR and the Facebook Metaverse

Maya: Maya literally means ‘Magic’ or ‘Illusion’, which is just another way of saying that something is not ‘real’. This is an Indian philosophical concept that posits that nothing of what we consider as the physical base reality is actually real.

Hence,

According to Advaita Vedanta, The objective of human life is to break out of this ‘Moha Maya’ and reunite ‘Atman’ with the “Brahman’

Simulation Theory: This is a theory that argues that the nature of existence is actually some kind of computer simulation, which feels so real that residents of it ( us ) cannot truly understand that they are in fact in a simulation.

Contemporary advocates of this theory include Elon Musk, Neil Degrasse Tyson, Scott Adams to name a few. A considerable amount of thought is being used on this problem of whether we can break out of this ‘Simulation’

Now that we have the definitions sorted out, can you connect remaining the dots?
